How to Download Your Tax Calculation (SA302)

Most mortgage lenders require your SA302 (Tax Calculation) along with your Tax Year Overview to verify your income. Together, these documents confirm the figures submitted through your tax return and show whether HMRC agrees with them.

This guide walks you through downloading your SA302 quickly and correctly from your HMRC online account.

Step 1: Log in to Your HMRC Account

Start by logging into your online HMRC account via the Government Gateway. You'll need your user ID and password.

Step 2: Navigate to ‘Self Assessment’

Once logged in, go to your Self Assessment section. If you are registered for Self Assessment, this option will appear on your account homepage.

Step 3: Select ‘Get your SA302 tax calculation’

Within the Self Assessment area, select “More details about your Self Assessment.”. This will show you your submitted tax returns and other options. From here, click"Continue to your SA302"

Step 4: Follow These Next Steps

  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select 'Print your full calculation'
  • From the printing options pop-up, choose your destination printer as 'Print to PDF' and choose your preferred file destination to save the document to.

Step 5: Keep a Copy for Your Records

Once downloaded, save a copy to your files. Mortgage lenders may request both your SA302 and Tax Year Overview as part of verifying your income.
